Hilja Keading is an artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. She has been described as a "Pioneer of Los Angeles Video Art."  Keading began by producing short single channel videos and sculptural installations, later merging these two forms into multi-channel video installations. Her work has been exhibited in several international and national definitive exhibitions, and she is currently represented by Angles Gallery Los Angeles.  Her work focuses on psychological, and metaphysical realities, and connections between psychology and comedy. In 2005 she returned to painting and drawing to supplement her examination of these concepts "from the inside - out."

Keading received a B.F.A. and an M.F.A. from the University of California Los Angeles. She is currently a faculty  member at The University of California Riverside and has held Visiting Artist positions at California Institute of the Arts, Art Center College of Art and Design, the University of California Irvine, the University of Southern California, and others.
